Severe weather damages property in Elgin, Oklahoma
4/27/2020 (Permalink)
Last week, severe thunderstorms blew into southwest Oklahoma, hitting one small community hard.
Elgin has a population of just over 2100 residents, the majority of whom had some storm damage.
Reports from our crews on the scene included roofs severely damaged, holes punched through skylights, downed tree and power lines, and many vehicles damaged or destroyed.
SERVPRO of Lawton began receiving calls around 2:00 am, while the storm was still raging.
Crews deployed to the site to survey the damage, and immediately began boarding up and tarping over blown out windows and damaged roofs.
Once all properties were secured, our teams began extracting water and establishing a drying protocol.
One of our customers took a video of our team as they finished securing the fourth property he had called us on. We shared that on Lasso - Texas and Louisiana page, so that other franchises could see just how grateful this customer was.
One call was all it took to get help.
Our teams worked through two rounds of severe weather that one day, and as we are wrapping up some of the job sites, a new forecast has come out.
For tomorrow. Again, for baseball sized hail.
We're ready. For whatever happens.
