Recently, Marketing Manager Denise Henry, along with new Project Manager Jason Johnson, had the opportunity to visit with the Southwest Oklahoma Emergency Managers.

Many of these professionals were already aware of our services, thanks in part to our First Responder program.

Ironically, the day of the meeting was a severe weather day, with thunderstorms, hail, and tornadoes in the forecast.

Thankfully, the luncheon went smoothly, and the damaging storms held off until later in the afternoon.

One local event was a food drive for the local Armed Services YMCA programs in Lawton and Altus. 

Together with other community members, SERVPRO of Lawton teamed up with Communication Federal Credit Union to establish permanent drop off sites at the Oklahoma locations, to ensure a consistent supply of food items for the food pantry.

This pantry ensures that our younger military members have a readily available food source, especially critical during these difficult financial times.

While each chapter has it's own signature fund raiser, the Mountain Metro AMBUCS unit is known for their car show.

The Trykes and Tread car show is in it's eleventh year, and is held at the Great Plains Coliseum in April.

Insurance agents and property managers recommend us. And so does one customer who kept our technicians supplied with fresh baked pumpkin bread.

What began as a water loss turned into three weeks of extracting water and demolition of hardwood floors.

This customer was notably distraught when our technicians first arrived. They explained the drying process thoroughly, and she became calmer and more comfortable with what our team would be doing to help make it "Like it never even happened."

All of our area non-profit organizations have suffered this past year, and with school back in session our team at SERVPRO of Lawton volunteered to help. Fundraising has not been easy, so when we had the opportunity to partner with the Coats for Kids coalition and the Lawton Public Schools we jumped right in. Co-owner Aaron Ryan and Marketing Representative Tyler Watts supported the Lawton Athletic Foundation at its golf tournament  to raise money for Lawton Public Schools high schools athletic programs. We can always count on these two to take one for the team and hit the links for a great cause! Meanwhile Lawton Marketing Representative Denise Henry joined forces with local realtor Real Estate Experts to raise funds for Coats for Kids, a local non-profit who provides warm weather gear for area school children. This is our community, too. It's good to be green.

We don't mean renewable green, we mean SERVPRO green.

The recent arctic blast created massive water damage throughout Texoma, and SERVPRO was called to help with the restoration process.

Our national Disaster Recovery Teams are still deployed around the region, helping our communities recover from this disaster.

And we're proud to welcome them to Texoma. Our own teams have deployed to hurricane damaged areas to help with the restoration process, but this is the first time we've needed the help ourselves.

The response to our communities needs has been amazing, and our customers truly appreciate the large scale response.

Here is a brief post from one of our restoration sites at Ft. Sill:

"Corvias Property Management has secured SERVPRO, a nationally recognized disaster recovery service, to assist in the recovery efforts. They have amassed a team of nearly 100 people to assess homes and complete repairs. They have already completed more than 87 assessments and have begun repairs on 8 homes. Their crews are working closely with our resident team to schedule work in impacted homes. They will continue working throughout the weekend so that homes are restored as soon as possible."

We're helping feed families this holiday season

You see it every year. Food banks and other non-profit organizations asking for help to fee those in need in our communities.

This year, we're seeing it more frequently. The pandemic has left many people without jobs, or with a lesser job that makes it hard to provide for their family.

And the organizations who provide help are desperate. Food supplies were almost non-existent for months, and what was received was not enough to provide help to an overwhelming number of people.

SERVPRO of Lawton is doing its part to help feed the hungry. 

Our marketing representative, Dee Henry, is very active with the Lawton Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce and the Oklahoma Working Leaders.

Both organizations have multiple food donation programs, and we've supported every event.

And we will continue to help our neighbors in need.

When our governor implemented a stay at home policy, most residents did just that.

Except our First Responders. They were at the forefront of this pandemic, and they had little information to keep them safe.

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we live, work, and reach out to others.

For our SERVPRO team, the changes meant more frequent sanitizing of our offices, vehicles and shops.

It also meant we reach out to all our First Responders in Southwest Oklahoma.

We knew from our visits with them they were worried about this flu. Worried they may come in contact with someone who was infected. And worried they would take it home to their families.

So we offered free proactive cleanings of their cars, trucks, and ambulances. We even cleaned their personal vehicles. All free.

Working remotely during a pandemic

Hello! Denise Henry, marketing representative for SERVPRO of Lawton and Wichita Falls. Well, Tyler Watts is the rep for Wichita Falls, I just do all the social and web marketing.

My friends on Facebook and in the Chamber of Commerce call me Dee. And they've gotten used to morning pictures like this. Obviously I'm not a professional photographer, but I like for my friends to still see me. 

And my boss. No better way of checking in every day than a picture!

Marketing is different now. I'm used to stopping in and seeing my customers, and I really miss being able to do that.

Thankfully, most of my customers are also friends on my Facebook page. So we have a roll call of "Good morning" each day, and can check in with each other.

Working from home has helped develop better relationships with my customers. We get to see the real side of each other, and we share more important information than we used to.

Funny, this social distancing has actually brought us all closer!

We all share the same worry about how bad this is going to be. And we wonder if this is the new normal, or if we'll ever get our lives back to what they were.

And, we wonder if maybe what we need is a combination of old normal, mixed with more family time.

I'm blessed to work with an amazing company that allows me to work from home. I would never have imagined that I would have to, but I guess none of us did.

New SERVPRO First Responder Bowl to be played at Cotton Bowl Stadium

In a joint effort to honor the service and sacrifice of America’s First Responders, the annual college football bowl game played at Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas, Texas has been renamed the SERVPRO First Responder Bowl.  Kickoff for the newly christened SERVPRO First Responder Bowl is set for December 26 at 12:30 p.m. CT (1:30 p.m. ET) and will be televised by ESPN.  The agreement between ESPN Events and SERVPRO was brokered by Denver-based Impression Sports & Entertainment.

"We are truly grateful for all first responders’ sacrifice and service,” said Brant Ringler, Executive Director of the SERVPRO First Responder Bowl. “It is a tremendous privilege to honor these brave men and women who protect our communities 24/7/365. As this game continues to grow, so do our ties with first responders. Additionally, having a sponsor like SERVPRO who works along-side and supports these community heroes reinforces our goals of recognizing our first responders.”

The 2018 SERVPRO First Responder Bowl is the ninth edition of the bowl game, formerly known as the Heart of Dallas Bowl, and part of the 89-year history of games being played at Cotton Bowl Stadium on the grounds of Dallas’ Fair Park, which features 227 acres of museums, attractions, history, art and performances located in the heart of the ninth largest city in the United States.

First responders to be honored include police officers, firefighters, EMS workers, correctional officers, search and rescue, dispatchers, security guards, federal agents, border patrol agents and military personnel who have specialized training and are the first to arrive and provide assistance at the scene of an emergency.

“This is an exciting change, and we are humbled by the fact that an actual bowl game has been named exclusively for the first responders of this country,” Dallas Fire-Rescue Fire Chief David Coatney said.

“We are truly honored to have a bowl game here in Dallas named after the hard working men and women serving and protecting communities across this country.  It always feels great to be recognized, and I know our officers and firefighters are touched by this overwhelming show of support, “said Dallas Police Chief U. Renee Hall.

Insurance agents and property managers recommend us. And so does one customer who kept our technicians supplied with fresh baked pumpkin bread.

What began as a water loss turned into three weeks of extracting water and demolition of hardwood floors.

This customer was notably distraught when our technicians first arrived. They explained the drying process thoroughly, and she became calmer and more comfortable with what our team would be doing to help make it "Like it never even happened."

By the end of day four, she started baking. Pumpkin bread. Our technicians complimented the smells from the kitchen, and that's all it took for this customer to bake for the whole team each week.

By the end of demolition, our team of professionals had the home on track to receive new flooring and return this customers life back to normal.

She thanked us profusely for our help, and we thanked her for keeping us supplied with fresh baked goods.

She said she was actually going to miss us, as she had gotten used to having us around. We assured her we would miss her more!
